Gregory Fisher has been portraying General Washington, the young Virginia Colonel, Planter, and Burgess, as well as the Commander-in-Chief of the Army for over 14 years. However, he has been doing first-person interpretations for much longer. Greg has portrayed Washington in a variety of venues for the Living History Foundation, Inc., the Little Maids of History, Inc., and appears courtesy of the George Washington Foundation in Fredericksburg, VA.
Greg has made many appearances as George Washington at historical events, special programs, and speaking enagements to include the Old Senate Chamber, Annapolis, MD; Washington's Headquarters Museum, Winchester, VA; Kenmore Mansion and Ferry Farm (Washington's boyhood home); the Mary Washington House in Fredericksburg, VA; the Lyceum Museum; and, Gadsby's Tavern in Alexandria, VA to include numerous living history first-person events, re-enactments, historical societies, schools, corporate dinners, and organizations throughout the country.
He has shared the stage as General Washington on numerous occasions with the likes of Colonial Williamsburg's Bill Barker (Thomas Jefferson) and Mark Schneider (Marquee de Lafayette).
Mr. Fisher served as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Army before retiring after 21 years of active duty service. During that time, he served in three combat zones and worked at the Office of the Secretary of the Army in the Pentagon, and the White House Military Office, The White House, Washington, DC.
Currently Greg resides in Woodbridge, VA, and continues to serve his country as a Federal employee. Greg considers himself as amateur historian and has a passion for 18th century American History. He is a great admirer of General George Washington.
